Display a staghorn fern on a wall, shelf or table while giving its roots a contained, well-ventilated growing space.

The hexagonal mount holds substrate around the root ball while its open structure allows airflow and drainage. A removable magnetic front provides access for planting and maintenance without requiring the entire mount to be dismantled.

Choose the mount on its own for wall display or add the matching stand for a freestanding setup with an integrated drip tray.

• Ventilated construction: Openings across the front, top and sides increase airflow around the substrate and allow excess water to drain.
• Removable magnetic front: Glued-in magnets hold the front panel in place while allowing access to the roots and substrate.
• Enclosed back: Helps contain the substrate and separates the growing medium from the wall.
• Supplied fishing line: Secures the fern and growing medium to the front panel while the plant establishes.
• Two rear fixing points: Allow the mount to be displayed on a wall and lifted off for watering.
• Optional freestanding base: The matching stand supports the mount on a shelf or table and also functions as a watertight drip tray.

The mount is made from PETG and is designed and manufactured in Czechia for indoor use.

The mount is designed primarily for staghorn ferns, whose epiphytic growth habit is well suited to an airy, mounted setup.

It may also be used for other epiphytic plants with compatible root systems and moisture requirements. Check that the selected plant is suitable for mounted cultivation and that its root ball fits comfortably inside the mount.

Choose your size

The width is measured externally across the widest points of the hexagon. Internal depth indicates the usable planting space, while external depth includes the complete body of the mount.

• S: 15 cm external width, 4 cm internal depth and 5 cm external depth
• M: 22 cm external width, 5 cm internal depth and 6 cm external depth
• L: 30 cm external width, 6 cm internal depth and 7 cm external depth

Choose according to the existing root ball and the amount of substrate needed around it. Avoid placing a small plant in an unnecessarily large mount, as the additional substrate may remain wet for longer.

Position the planted mount in bright, indirect light with suitable air circulation. Keep it away from drying heat sources and leave enough space for the fronds to develop.

Plant the mount

1. Remove the magnetic front panel.
2. Add a loose, airy growing medium. A chunky orchid mix with a front layer of sphagnum moss is recommended. Pure sphagnum moss may also be used, but should be packed gently rather than compressed into a dense block.
3. Position the fern with its roots against the substrate while keeping its growing point exposed.
4. Use the supplied fishing line to secure the plant and growing medium to the front panel without cutting into the plant tissue.
5. Refit the panel, checking that no substrate obstructs the magnetic connection.
6. Water the substrate thoroughly and allow excess water to drain before returning the mount to its display position.

The fishing line and plant remain attached to the front panel. When opening an established mount, support the plant and panel together and handle attached roots and fronds carefully.

For wall display, use fixings suitable for the wall material and the weight of the planted mount when wet.

Water and feed

• Remove the mount from the wall or stand before watering.
• Wet the root ball and growing medium thoroughly.
• Allow the mount to drain before returning it to display.
• Wipe the back dry before rehanging.
• Empty residual water from the stand.
• Allow the growing medium to dry partially between waterings.
• Adjust the watering frequency according to the fern species, substrate, temperature and airflow.
• During active growth, apply a diluted, balanced fertiliser according to its instructions.

Do not soak or fully immerse the mount. The magnets are glued into the PETG components, and the assembled product is not intended for soaking.

Clean and maintain

Clean accessible surfaces using water, mild soap and a soft cloth. Keep the ventilation openings clear and support the mount’s body whenever moving it.

The rounded shield fronds around a staghorn fern’s base naturally turn brown as they mature. Leave healthy shield fronds in place because they help protect the plant’s roots.
