A very open epiphytic substrate designed to provide substantial airflow, coarse physical support and distributed moisture around orchid roots.

Large pine bark forms the structural base, while coco husk chips, tree fern fibre and sphagnum introduce different moisture-holding and capillary properties without turning the mix into conventional soil.

• 40% large pine bark: The 15-25 mm grading creates the main air spaces and coarse physical structure.

Species with very fine roots or unusually high moisture requirements may need a finer or more moisture-retentive formula.

Use directly from the bag in a ventilated orchid pot or another container with effective drainage.

Remove loose degraded material from the old root system without stripping healthy attached roots unnecessarily. Position the plant and work the mix gently around the roots without crushing or tightly compressing the particles.

Water thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain. Drying speed depends on the pot, root density, airflow, temperature and humidity, so check the roots and deeper substrate rather than following a fixed calendar.

The mix contains no added fertiliser. Use a suitable diluted orchid fertiliser according to the plant's active growth and the product instructions.
