Assembly Guide

Moss Poles & Anchors [Classic Line]

NOTE: The following steps apply to all moss pole set ups, whether you're using them with or without an anchor.

As you scroll through the guide, you'll reach a point where the instructions will diverge based on the specific setup you're working with.

STEP 1

Remove and recycle the protective plastic film from both sides of the pole.

This step applies exclusively to the Crystal Clear moss pole variation. It does not apply to the Black, White, or Clear Matte variations.

STEP 2

Fold the pole sharply along the crease lines as you would fold a sheet of paper, ensuring the folds are clear, visible, and strong. To achieve a precise fold, firmly pinch both sides as close as possible to the crease line.

Wait, that wasn’t clear? Don’t worry, just check this video instead! 😊

STEP 3

Form a D-shape. Insert the tip of an arrow tab into the cutout or opening, facing inwards. Before securing it completely, insert all the tabs into the rest of the cuts.

IMPORTANT: If you plan to use an anchor, make sure to close the moss pole in its second-largest position. Video for reference. (Note: For S-sized moss poles, there is only one position available.)

STEP 4

Push the tabs all the way in until they are securely fixed. You should hear or feel a satisfying 'click' to confirm they’re in place.

STEP 5

Scroll to your section that matches your moss pole setup:

1️⃣ Without an Anchor

1️⃣ Without an Anchor

STEP 6 - WITHOUT AN ANCHOR

STEP 7 - WITHOUT AN ANCHOR

Place the assembled pole into an empty pot. Add enough substrate to hold the pole securely in place, ensuring it stands stable. Be sure to leave enough space to comfortably add your plant afterward.

STEP 8 - WITHOUT AN ANCHOR

Secure the plant to the pole using a plant tie, ensuring the nodes are gently attached to the pole. Position the plant naturally, with its leaves facing toward the light source, not toward the pole, for optimal growth and appearance.

Once the plant is securely in place, finish adding substrate around it.

Water the pole from the top as needed to ensure the substrate stays evenly moist.

💡 TIP: Don’t forget to fertilize your moss pole! Sphagnum moss or moss pole mix contains no nutrients for your plants. We recommend using House Plant Elixir for the best results.

🚀 EXTRA FUTURE STEP

Once the plant reaches the top of the moss pole, it’s time to extend it. To do so, slide a new pole over the existing one, ensuring an overlap of 7–10 cm for stability. Be sure to use the same moss pole size (S, M, L, XL) as the existing one to ensure a seamless extension.

2️⃣ With a Regular Anchor

⏸️ PAUSE & CONFIRM 🤓

As mentioned earlier, have you closed the moss pole in its second-largest position? (Remember, S-sized moss poles are exempt from this step!).
Double-check before proceeding to ensure proper assembly! ✅

JOKE: Yes, even the folks at IKEA could use some 'Pause & Confirm' moments 🛠️

It might save you a few arguments, and a missing screw, when moving into a new apartment! 😂

STEP 6 - WITH A REGULAR ANCHOR

Insert the moss pole into the anchor. If the moss pole walls get stuck, inspect the area and press gently with your fingers to free them. Ensure the entire moss pole, including part of the hexagonal pattern, is properly inserted into the anchor—not just the end without the hexagonal design. For a visual guide, check out this video for reference.

STEP 7 - WITH A REGULAR ANCHOR

Place the moss pole with its anchor into the corresponding pot, ensuring it fits securely. When pairing it with our aroid pots, don’t worry if the anchor feels slightly 'loose' at the bottom - the stability of the system comes from the substrate placed around it, not from the anchor perfectly clicking into the bottom of the pot.

STEP 8 - WITH A REGULAR ANCHOR

Once the pole is inside the anchor and the pot, fill it with your choice of substrate, such as moss, moss pole mix, or another suitable material. Ensure that the portion of the moss pole inside the pot, including the anchor and a small section above it, is filled with regular substrate instead of soggy materials like moss.

Take care not to overpack the moss pole - too tight, and the roots may struggle to grow; too loose, and the pole might become unstable when extended.

If using moss as your substrate, soak it in water beforehand for best results.

STEP 9 - WITH A REGULAR ANCHOR

3️⃣ With a Self-Watering Anchor

⏸️ PAUSE & CONFIRM 🤓

As mentioned earlier, have you closed the moss pole in its second-largest position? (Remember, S-sized moss poles are exempt from this step!).
Double-check before proceeding to ensure proper assembly! ✅

JOKE: Yes, even the folks at IKEA could use some 'Pause & Confirm' moments 🛠️

It might save you a few arguments, and a missing screw, when moving into a new apartment! 😂

STEP 6 - WITH A SELF-WATERING ANCHOR

Insert the moss pole into the anchor. If the moss pole walls get stuck, inspect the area and press gently with your fingers to free them. Ensure the entire moss pole, including part of the hexagonal pattern, is properly inserted into the anchor—not just the end without the hexagonal design. For a visual guide, check out thisvideofor reference.

STEP 7 - WITH A SELF-WATERING ANCHOR

Place the moss pole with its anchor into the corresponding pot, ensuring it fits securely. When pairing it with our self-watering aroid pots, don’t worry if the anchor feels slightly 'loose' at the bottom - the stability of the system comes from the substrate placed around it, not from the anchor perfectly clicking into the bottom of the pot.

STEP 8 - WITH A SELF-WATERING ANCHOR

Slide the rope through the moss pole.

STEP 9 - WITH A SELF-WATERING ANCHOR

Pass the rope through the center hole of the self-watering pot. Tie a knot under the hole to prevent the moss pole media from sliding through. Ensure enough rope extends below the knot to sit in the water reservoir.

STEP 10 - WITH A SELF-WATERING ANCHOR

Once the pole is inside the anchor and the pot, fill it with your choice of substrate, such as moss (as stated on the product page, we recommend exclusively using moss to achieve optimal capillarity), moss pole mix, or another suitable material. Ensure that the portion of the moss pole inside the pot, including the anchor and a small section above it, is filled with regular substrate instead of soggy materials like moss.

While proceeding, ensure the rope remains straight and keep as much of it as possible outside the moss pole. The knot on the rope should securely prevent it from slipping out of the moss pole.

Take care not to overpack the moss pole - too tight, and the roots may struggle to grow; too loose, and the pole might become unstable when extended.

If using moss as your substrate, soak it in water beforehand for best results.

STEP 11 - WITH A SELF-WATERING ANCHOR

Secure the plant to the pole using a plant tie, ensuring the nodes are gently attached to the pole.

Position the plant naturally, with its leaves facing toward the light source, not toward the pole, for optimal growth and appearance.

Once the plant is securely in place, add substrate around it.

Only then you can add the water reservoir at the bottom of the pot. Be careful it

💡 TIP: Don’t forget to fertilize your moss pole! Watering only through the water reservoir won't be enough. Sphagnum moss or moss pole mix contains no nutrients for your plants. We recommend using House Plant Elixir for the best results.

STEP 12 - WITH A SELF-WATERING ANCHOR

Do not cut the remaining rope. Leave it at the top of the moss pole for future extensions. If you extend the moss pole, pass the rope through the new section and repeat step 10.

🚀 EXTRA FUTURE STEP

Once the plant reaches the top of the moss pole, it’s time to extend it. To do so, slide a new pole over the existing one, ensuring an overlap of 7–10 cm for stability. Slide the rope through the moss pole. Be sure to use the same moss pole size (S, M, L, XL) as the existing one to ensure a seamless extension.
