Coarse coco husk chips for adding moisture retention, airflow and durable physical structure to aroid, orchid and epiphytic substrate mixes.

Unlike fine coco pith, the 10-15 mm chips absorb and gradually release moisture while preserving visible air spaces around the roots.

• Washed: Reduces excess soluble salts naturally present in insufficiently processed coconut material.
• Buffered: Improves the chemical stability of the coco before use.
• Screened and sieved: Produces a more consistent 10-15 mm substrate component with limited fine material.
• Specified EC below 0.5 mS/cm: Provides a defined low-salt specification rather than relying only on the word coco.
• Laboratory analysed: A tested sample measured approximately pH 6.4 with conductivity of 0.110 mS/cm.

Use directly from the bag. The chips are already washed and buffered.

Combine with bark, chunky perlite, tree fern fibre or a suitable organic growing medium according to the required balance of moisture and air.

For moss poles, combine with long-fibre sphagnum moss and coarse bark to create a more structurally varied filling.

Coco husk chips can settle slightly through repeated wet and dry cycles. Inspect the structure during repotting and refresh the mix when required.
