In detail

Why this product?

Add a measured source of silica and accompanying minerals to your plant-care routine.

Si Star is a silica-rich mineral powder for application to the substrate. Silicon can contribute to structural support and stress tolerance in plants that absorb and accumulate it, although the response varies by plant species, silicon source and growing conditions.

Use it alongside suitable light, healthy roots and balanced nutrition. It does not replace complete fertiliser or appropriate plant care.

Why it works

The declared composition is:

  • 46% silicon dioxide (SiO₂)
  • 12.90% iron (Fe)
  • 12% calcium oxide (CaO)
  • 9.54% magnesium oxide (MgO)
  • 0.38% phosphorus pentoxide (P₂O₅)
  • 0.22% manganese (Mn)
  • 0.02% copper oxide (CuO)
  • 0.01% zinc oxide (ZnO)

Silicon dioxide is a mineral silica source rather than a fully soluble liquid silicon product. Plant availability and response depend on the substrate, microbial activity, moisture, plant species and growing conditions.

The product cannot repair existing damaged leaves or stems. Its purpose is to supplement ongoing and future growth.

Best suited for

Si Star may be used for:

  • Aroids and other foliage plants
  • Climbing plants with substantial leaves and stems
  • Plants growing in soil or coco-based substrates
  • Preparing fresh substrate during potting
  • Established plants requiring a measured silica supplement

It does not replace balanced fertiliser and should not be used to compensate for insufficient light, poor drainage, damaged roots or an unsuitable watering routine.

Because plants differ in their ability to absorb and accumulate silicon, visible results should not be assumed for every species.

Do not add the powder directly to a self-watering, semi-hydro or hydroponic reservoir. Undissolved mineral material can settle in the water supply and make the system more difficult to maintain.

How to use it

Choose one main application method instead of automatically combining full substrate, watering and surface doses.

Mixing into substrate

Mix 30–50 g per 10 L of substrate, equivalent to 3–5 g per litre.

For smaller indoor plants, begin at the lower end of the range and distribute the powder evenly through the substrate before potting.

Equivalent quantities:

  • 1 L of substrate: 3–5 g
  • 5 L of substrate: 15–25 g
  • 10 L of substrate: 30–50 g

Applying through watering

Mix 5 g per litre of water, stir thoroughly and apply through the substrate from the top.

The stated maximum frequency is once per week. Apply it when the plant already requires watering rather than adding a separate watering solely to deliver the supplement.

The mineral powder may settle. Stir again during application when necessary and measure by weight for consistent dosing.

For self-watering and semi-hydro setups, apply Si Star from the top through the substrate. Allow the pot to drain, then empty and rinse the reservoir before returning to the normal watering routine.

Surface application

Apply 80–100 g per m² once per month, work it lightly into the surface and water it in.

This method is intended mainly for larger growing areas. Measured substrate incorporation or watering is easier to control in individual houseplant pots.

For plants on moss poles, apply the supplement to the substrate in the pot. Keep it out of the moss-pole filling and pole drippers, and continue watering and fertilising the pole separately.

Storage and handling

  • Store closed and protected from direct sunlight at 0–30°C.
  • Avoid inhaling the powder or getting it in your eyes.
  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.
What’s included

One 500 g pouch of Si Star silica supplement.

A 500 g pouch provides approximately:

  • 100–167 L of substrate at the stated mixing rate
  • 100 L of watering mixture at 5 g per litre
