Why this product?

Give your indoor plants a steadier moisture supply while keeping root development visible.

An integrated reservoir helps reduce manual watering and repeated wet and dry fluctuations. Lift out the clear planted insert to inspect roots and substrate, then return it to the coloured outer pot to limit direct light exposure. A water level window lets you check the reservoir without removing the insert.

Why it works
  • Water stored below the growing area: Supplies moisture through capillary action rather than relying entirely on repeated top watering.
  • Wick system in the four smaller sizes: An included wick carries water from the reservoir into the substrate in the 7.5, 9.5, 12.5 and 15 cm pots.
  • Integrated column in the 23 cm size: A substrate-filled column extends into the reservoir and carries moisture upwards without a separate wick.
  • Removable clear insert: Lets you inspect visible roots and substrate while the plant remains established in its growing container.
  • Coloured outer pot: Reduces prolonged light exposure around the roots, helping limit algae growth.
  • Simple viewing window: Shows stored water directly. It is not a mechanical or floating indicator.
Best suited for

Indoor plants grown in mineral substrates and semi-hydro setups, using media that move moisture by capillary action while retaining airflow around the roots.

Suitable options include:

  • Mineral substrate mixes.
  • Pon-style substrates.
  • Expanded clay.
  • Other coarse mineral media with suitable capillary properties.

Traditional organic potting mixes are not recommended. Continuous reservoir use can leave them excessively wet, reducing airflow and increasing the risk of root problems.

Choose the size for your plant’s current root system. An unnecessarily large pot can make moisture management harder. The listed dimensions describe the outer pot; the clear insert is smaller to leave room for the reservoir.

How to use it

Set up the 7.5, 9.5, 12.5 and 15 cm sizes

  1. Thread the included wick through the openings in the bottom of the clear insert.
  2. Leave part inside the growing area and part extending into the reservoir.
  3. Add mineral substrate, ensuring good contact with the wick.
  4. Position your plant and fill around the roots.
  5. Place the insert inside the outer pot.
  6. Water gradually through the substrate to moisten it and establish the capillary connection, allowing excess water to collect below.

Keep the wick in contact with both the substrate and reservoir water.

Set up the 23 cm size

  1. Fill the column at the bottom of the clear insert completely with mineral substrate.
  2. Continue filling the main growing area, positioning your plant and adding substrate around the roots.
  3. Place the insert inside the outer pot.
  4. Water gradually from above until the substrate is evenly moistened and some water collects in the reservoir.

The substrate in the column must remain connected to the substrate above so moisture can travel upwards.

Water and fertilise

  • Water through the substrate and monitor the reservoir through the window.
  • Allow the plant to use some stored water before refilling. Do not automatically top up whenever the level drops slightly.
  • Adjust watering to pot size, plant, substrate, temperature, light and root development.
  • The reservoir does not prevent overwatering. Suitable substrate, airflow and regular moisture checks remain essential.
  • Mineral substrates supply little or no nutrition unless enriched. Apply a properly diluted mineral fertiliser suitable for semi-hydro growing, following its instructions and your plant’s needs.
  • Periodically flush the substrate with clean water to remove accumulated mineral residue, then empty the runoff from the reservoir.

Inspect and maintain

Lift out the planted insert for root checks or reservoir access, then return it to the outer pot. Some algae may still develop in moist conditions; this alone does not indicate unhealthy roots.

  • Remove the insert before cleaning the reservoir.
  • Wash with water, mild soap and a soft cloth.
  • Rinse the wick when residue accumulates and replace it if damaged or heavily clogged.
  • Remove mineral residue from the insert and reservoir.
  • Keep the water level window clean and visible.
  • Support the outer pot from underneath when moving the planted setup.

Practical tips
