In detail

Why this product?

This PETG anchor connects a front-opening moss pole to a matching aroid pot, creating a stable foundation for long-term vertical growth.

It stops the support from depending entirely on loose substrate to resist the leverage of a taller, heavier plant. The detachable connection preserves the key advantage of the front-opening system: easier access when the setup is propagated, rebuilt or reused.

Why it works
  • Mechanical connection: Locks the front-opening pole to the compatible pot instead of relying on substrate pressure alone.
  • Greater stability: Helps reduce leaning, rotation and unwanted movement as the plant gains height and foliage.
  • Detachable system: The pole can be opened and separated from the anchor when dismantling or rebuilding the setup.
  • Matched geometry: Every anchor corresponds to one pole size and one pot top diameter.
  • PETG construction: Designed for repeated indoor exposure to moisture and correctly diluted fertiliser.
Best suited for

Indoor climbing plants trained on front-opening moss poles, especially when access to established roots, nodes and cuttings is part of the long-term plan.

  • S10: S pole and 10 cm pot.
  • S12: S pole and 12 cm pot.
  • M14: M pole and 14 cm pot.
  • M16: M pole and 16 cm pot.
  • L18: L pole and 18 cm pot.
  • L21: L pole and 21 cm pot.
  • XL24: XL pole and 24 cm pot.
  • XL28: XL pole and 28 cm pot.

The letter identifies the front-opening pole size. The number identifies the compatible pot’s top diameter in centimetres.

Allow space for the root ball, anchor and substrate. Introducing an anchor commonly requires a pot approximately 4–8 cm wider than an equivalent unanchored setup, but always check the roots and anchor dimensions.

Compatible only with PlantScraper front-opening moss poles and matching standard aroid pots. Not compatible with classic poles, self-watering pots or other brands’ systems.

How to use it
  1. Select the anchor matching both the pole size and standard aroid pot diameter.
  2. Connect the front-opening moss pole securely to the anchor.
  3. Place the assembly in the empty standard aroid pot and confirm that the anchor sits correctly and the pole is upright.
  4. Add the plant and a coarse, well-draining substrate evenly around the anchor.
  5. Fill the pole with moistened long-fibre sphagnum moss without compressing it excessively.
  6. Place the stem’s aerial-root side against the rooting surface and secure the main stem loosely with a plant tie.

For an established plant, install during repotting rather than forcing the anchor into the existing root ball.

Approximate filling capacity: S 0.4 L, M 1 L, L 1.5 L and XL 3 L. Sphagnum is recommended because the front-opening design exposes more filling to circulating air. moss pole filling mix can be used but may require more frequent watering.

Water from the top. A matching front-opening rapid dripper makes hydration and correctly diluted mineral fertiliser application easier. Support the pot from underneath when moving the setup.

What’s included

Choose one PETG anchor or three anchors of the same selected size.

Anchor dimensions, height × bottom base diameter:

  • S10: 5.9 × 7.3 cm.
  • S12: 5.9 × 8.5 cm.
  • M14: 7 × 11 cm.
  • M16: 7 × 12 cm.
  • L18: 10.3 × 13.6 cm.
  • L21: 10 × 15.7 cm.
  • XL24: 10.9 × 18.6 cm.
  • XL28: 10.7 × 21.6 cm.

The base diameter is measured across the section that sits against the pot bottom. The number in the variant name refers to compatible pot top diameter, not anchor height or base diameter.

Front-opening moss pole, standard aroid pot, sphagnum moss, potting substrate, front-opening rapid dripper and plant are not included.
