A deliberately chunky Monstera substrate built around the substantial root systems, vigorous growth and long-term structural needs of mature climbing aroids.

Large bark and chunky perlite create wide air spaces and strong drainage, while coco husk chips, tree fern fibre and the organic base retain usable moisture between waterings.

• 30% large pine bark: The 15-25 mm grading creates the main coarse framework around thick Monstera roots.

Use directly from the bag in a stable pot with effective drainage.

Choose a pot that accommodates the current root system and any moss pole anchor without leaving an unnecessarily large volume of unused substrate.

Fill loosely around the roots and tap the pot to settle particles into gaps. Do not crush the bark or compact the mix tightly.

Water thoroughly and allow all runoff to drain. Check moisture deeper in the pot because the coarse surface can dry before the centre. The mix contains no added fertiliser, so feed according to active growth and growing conditions.
