An Alocasia substrate designed to maintain relatively consistent moisture without creating a dense, saturated root zone.

The formula combines a moisture-retentive organic base and coco husk chips with a high proportion of chunky perlite and fibrous tree fern material for oxygen movement around the roots.

• 30% chunky perlite: Maintains a substantial aerated mineral fraction throughout the mix.
• 20% washed and buffered coco husk chips: Provides structured moisture retention through 10-15 mm particles.
• 10% New Zealand tree fern fibre: Helps distribute moisture through an open fibrous network.
• Limited bark fraction: 10% small 8-15 mm pine bark adds structure without making the mix excessively coarse.

For reservoir-based semi-hydro growing, choose the fine grade of mineral substrate mix instead.

Use directly from the bag in a pot with effective drainage.

Fill loosely around the roots and tap the pot gently to settle the mix. Do not compress it into a dense mass.

Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Check moisture below the surface and avoid repeatedly allowing the entire root zone to become completely dry, while also avoiding permanent saturation.

The mix contains no added fertiliser. Provide a suitable feeding routine according to the plant's growth, season and light levels.
