An Alocasia substrate designed to balance moisture retention with an open structure around the roots.

The recipe combines a BioActive foundation and washed coco chips with 30% chunky perlite, graded bark and New Zealand tree fern fibre. It is a ready-blended organic substrate for pots with effective drainage, not a purely mineral growing medium.

• 30% chunky perlite: A substantial coarse mineral component throughout the mix.
• 20% washed and buffered coco chips: Provides structured moisture retention through approximately 10 to 15 mm particles.
• 10% New Zealand tree fern fibre: Adds fibrous root contact and moisture distribution.
• 10% small pine bark: Graded to 8 to 15 mm, providing bark structure without the large bark fraction used in Monstera Mix.
• 30% BioActive growing medium: A complex foundation containing materials such as composted plant matter, worm humus and biochar.

Alocasia Mix or Fine Mineral Mix? Choose this formula for an organic substrate containing coco, bark and fibre. For a mineral semi-hydro setup, compare the fine grade of Mineral Substrate Mix. They are different growing approaches, not interchangeable recipes.

Use directly from the bag in a pot with effective drainage.

Fill loosely around the roots and tap the pot gently to settle the mix. Do not compress it into a dense mass.

Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Check moisture below the surface and avoid repeatedly allowing the entire root zone to become completely dry, while also avoiding permanent saturation.

Adjust watering according to the plant's growth, light, pot and season.
