Apply a synthetic rooting hormone directly to the basal end of a fresh cutting, where new roots need to form.

HESI ClonFix uses a viscous gel to maintain close contact between the rooting hormone and the cut stem. This provides a controlled, localised application without diluting the product or adding rooting hormone throughout the propagation medium.

• Targeted hormone application: Places the rooting compound directly around the root initiation area.
• Viscous gel consistency: Adheres to the stem more effectively than a thin liquid solution.
• No mixing or measuring: The gel is ready to use directly from a separate application container.
• Minimal treatment depth: Only the lowest 3 to 5 mm of the cutting needs to be coated.
• Compatible with different media: Suitable for cuttings propagated in soil, coco, perlite, rockwool and other appropriate propagation substrates.
• Reduced bottle contamination: Decanting a small amount keeps plant tissue and used gel away from the remaining product.

ClonFix coats the cut surface but does not sterilise it or provide a guaranteed barrier against pathogens. Rooting success still depends on viable plant material, hygiene, temperature, humidity, light and moisture management.

Use ClonFix for viable plant cuttings that are capable of producing adventitious roots, including:

• Stem cuttings
• Aroid cuttings containing a viable node
• Softwood and suitable semi-ripe cuttings
• Cuttings rooted in propagation cells or small pots
• Soil, coco and hydroponic propagation media
• Perlite, rockwool and other moisture-controlled rooting substrates

ClonFix cannot make a leaf or petiole produce a complete new plant when the species requires a node or other viable growing tissue.

It is intended for treatment immediately before planting into a propagation medium. Do not mix the gel into water, nutrient reservoirs or the entire substrate.

1. Prepare a clean propagation container and evenly moisten the selected rooting medium.
2. Take the cutting using clean, sharp scissors or a suitable propagation blade.
3. Pour a small amount of ClonFix into a separate clean container.
4. Dip only the lowest 3 to 5 mm of the stem into the gel.
5. Insert the treated cutting immediately into a prepared hole in the propagation medium.
6. Firm the medium gently around the stem without wiping away the gel.
7. Discard any used gel remaining in the separate container. Do not return it to the original bottle.

Do not immerse the stem more deeply than directed. Excess rooting hormone can be counterproductive and may slow new root development.

Maintain warm conditions, gentle light and sufficiently high humidity to limit water loss while the cutting has no established roots. Temperatures above 24°C and relative humidity above 90% may suit many tropical cuttings, but these are not universal requirements. Provide ventilation and avoid continuously saturated media, as stagnant conditions can encourage rot.

Optional Root Complex pre-treatment

For an intensive pre-treatment, HESI guidance recommends soaking the freshly cut stem in a solution of 50 ml Root Complex per litre of water for 30 to 60 minutes before applying ClonFix.

This is ten times the standard Root Complex irrigation concentration and is intended only as a temporary cutting treatment. Do not use this concentration for routine watering.

ClonFix contains a synthetic auxin-based rooting hormone suspended in a viscous gel. HESI does not identify the individual auxin or state its concentration in the supplied product information.

ClonFix is a rooting treatment, not a fertiliser. Newly forming roots will require suitable nutrition only once the cutting is ready to begin feeding.
